About Nadia Hassan

About me

My name is Nadia Hassan and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey. I have a Master’s degree in School Counseling and a Second Master’s degree in Community Mental Health from Montclair State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business Management from William Paterson University. I have over 10 years experience working in a variety of settings that includes schools, outpatient mental health center, partial care for people with disability, and non-profit organizations. I have extensive experience working with adults, children and families by providing therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Therapy, and Positive Psychology. My expertise is in depression, anxiety, parenting skills, social issues, and crisis intervention.

My experience is not only in clinical psychology but real-life experiences helped me with understanding life struggles and how to cope effectively. I have 3 amazing children. Raising them has been a deeply rewarding yet challenging journey filled with immense love, constant learning, moments of pure joy, and occasional frustration, where you witness the incredible growth of a small person into an independent individual, while navigating through various stages of development, requiring patience, adaptability, and a willingness to constantly learn and evolve as a parent; it can be both exhausting and profoundly fulfilling, teaching you about unconditional love and the true meaning of sacrifice.

My parents are Palestinian refugees, and I saw first hand the struggles that they endured to help protect their family and provide the best future for them. In the past, I lived in four different countries and visited many other countries and plan to travel more in the future. I came to the USA when I was ten years old. My exposure to many different cultures helped me keep an open mind and respect other people’s individualities, cultures, and religions. My passion is to help those who are hurting and hopeless. I believe that all people should be treated with kindness, dignity, and respect. You can expect from me a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental approach that helps you feel safe to open up and let the healing process begin.
